DayZ Badlands Motorbike Guide: Moped & Enduro in 1.30

DayZ Badlands motorbikes: Jana moped (about 70 km/h) and enduro (about 130 km/h) ship with update 1.30 on October 15, 2026 and ride on Experimental now.

DayZ Badlands Motorbike Guide: Moped & Enduro in 1.30

DayZ gets exactly two motorbikes with update 1.30: the Jana moped, which the studio says should do "approximately 70 km/h", and the enduro dirt bike, which should reach "around 130 km/h". Both ship with DayZ Badlands on October 15, 2026, and both are already rideable as of the Badlands pre-launch (October 2026) on the 1.30 Experimental branch, where dedicated "Many Motorbikes" servers exist purely to test them. Each bike takes one rider, carries no loot, has no battery, runs a new two-wheeled simulation with real leaning, and is repaired with a blowtorch. Crash one at speed and you go briefly unconscious on your own screen while every other client watches your character ragdoll.

What is confirmed so far:

  • Two models: Jana moped (Jawa 50/05) in blue, red and yellow, and enduro (Jawa 500 682 Bitrak) in four base colors with swappable plates
  • Official top speeds, both stated with hedges: roughly 70 km/h moped, roughly 130 km/h enduro
  • One seat, zero cargo space, no battery, no passenger; tires replaceable, repairs use a blowtorch
  • Crash rule: ragdoll for everyone else, brief unconsciousness for you, no published damage numbers
  • Rideable now on 1.30 Experimental; no official spawn list exists as of the Badlands pre-launch (October 2026)

The two bikes confirmed for update 1.30

Both models were revealed in Dev Blog 7 (Week 84) on Steam on September 11, 2026, then repeated in the Experimental announcement five days later. Both are modelled on real Jawa bikes from the studio's native Czech Republic.

Those speeds are the only published performance numbers: no acceleration, fuel burn, collision damage or off-road penalty has been stated as of the Badlands pre-launch (October 2026).

Bikes were not planned at the start of Badlands. The studio says they "became a natural fit for Nasdara" as a third mode of transport between cars and walking on its 267 km² map, the biggest it has built. They are not a Nasdara exclusive either: bikes "will not be limited to Nasdara" and appear "across all terrains, albeit in lower numbers", so the team can watch how players use them on each map. Bicycles came up too: in a September 21, 2026 interview with ixbt, the team said bicycles were considered and dropped because of engine limits (media report).

Handling: leaning, gears and walking the bike

The bikes bring a two-wheeled simulation with leaning that DayZ's existing vehicles never had; the studio credits the update 1.28 car networking upgrade as the groundwork.

  • Leaning is tied to steering. Character lean is integrated into turns through a new handlebar-turning animation, and the front light follows the direction you are steering.
  • Gears work like other vehicles. What is new is the "walking the bike" animation, usable with the engine off or in neutral — how you reposition after a spill, or drag a bike with a busted spark plug into the shade.
  • No air control. Stunt players are told plainly there is "no air control for now", but ramps have been placed all over Nasdara for small jumps.
  • Dust reacts to you. On dust-prone surfaces bikes, cars and trucks kick up layered dust particles — client-side atmosphere, not a sandstorm mechanic.
Walk the bike after a crash — engine off or in neutral, you can push a bike to cover instead of leaving it in the open where the next patrol finds it.

Crash physics: what a spill actually does

Ragdolls return to DayZ specifically for bike crashes, and the rule is split by who is watching:

Perspective What you see in a high-speed crash
Your own screen No ragdoll — your character briefly falls unconscious
Every other client The ragdoll plays, and all clients see the character in the same position

The studio is explicit that "you won't see the ragdoll from your point of view if you crash because you will fall unconscious, but all clients will see the character in the same position."

No crash numbers published — damage per collision, unconsciousness length, landing fall damage and spark plug failure odds had not been stated in any official source as of the Badlands pre-launch (October 2026). Treat any specific figure elsewhere as a guess until the October 15, 2026 patch notes land.

Maintenance: what can break, and what does not exist

Part or system Confirmed behaviour
Spark plug Can be damaged if you ride carelessly; the real Bitrak carries two for redundancy, the in-game enduro is simplified to one
Tires Replaceable, like cars
Battery Neither bike has one — nothing to find, charge or swap
Radiator fluid Not required on the enduro
Repair tool Blowtorch
Storage and passenger No inventory space, no place to hang bags, single seat

The studio says it "adjusted the balancing around this", so careful riders should not be fighting spark plugs constantly. The enduro also gets aftermarket gauges and non-obligatory lights for navigating at night.

Where the bikes spawn, and why pre-launch lists are guessing

This is where most motorbike coverage gets ahead of the facts. As of the Badlands pre-launch (October 2026), Bohemia has published no spawn points, no spawn tables, no per-map counts and no coordinates for either bike. The entire official footprint on placement is the sentence above: bikes appear across all terrains, in lower numbers outside Nasdara.

  1. Experimental test servers are not spawn data. "Many Motorbikes" servers are a stress tool — the announcement describes them as the same idea as the earlier "Many Cars" servers, deployed so the team can monitor performance. Elevated density there says nothing about live spawn rates.
  2. "Expected spawn location" pages are speculation. A competitor bike page listing expected spawn locations has no official source behind it; the honest answer today is that no official spawn list has been released.
  3. Community guesses stay community guesses. In a Steam thread titled "Motorcycles are Back" (October 28, 2025, 19 replies), players speculated bikes would need "gas, oil, wheel, tire, tube and key" to start, and worried about engine noise carrying "from half a kilometre away". None of that is confirmed.

Bikes spawn on the existing maps as well as Nasdara, so the wrecked traffic you already thread on foot is where you will lean one.

Testing the bikes right now on 1.30 Experimental

Update 1.30 entered the Experimental phase on Steam on September 16, 2026, and it is the only way to ride a motorbike before launch.

  • The bikes are the exception, not the rule. Most expansion assets are being held back until release; the motorbikes are an exception because the team needs "to test more rigorously in advance". The Nasdara terrain itself has not appeared in the Experimental build.
  • Server names: Dev Blog 7 says "Many Bikes" servers, the September 16 announcement says "Many Motorbikes" servers — same idea, and they are the recommended place to test.
  • Report findings through the Feedback Tracker.
  • Modders were warned. The animation work behind the bikes means animation-related mods may break on 1.30.
  • Expect more than bikes. The same build carries 150+ redone item icons and reworked infected attacks (upward, centred, downward, plus a running heavy attack), listed on our update 1.30 patch notes page alongside the official Experimental change log.

FAQ

Can you ride a motorbike in DayZ right now? Yes, on the 1.30 Experimental branch on Steam, open since September 16, 2026 with dedicated "Many Motorbikes" test servers. Stable players wait until October 15, 2026.

How fast are the DayZ Badlands motorbikes? Published figures are "approximately 70 km/h" for the Jana moped and "around 130 km/h" for the enduro. Nothing else performance-related has been published.

Will motorbikes come to Chernarus and Livonia, or only Nasdara? All maps. The studio states bikes "will not be limited to Nasdara", at lower numbers outside it.

What happens when you crash a motorbike? At high speed you are ejected, ragdoll for every other client, and fall briefly unconscious on your own screen. Damage values are unpublished.

Where do motorbikes spawn in DayZ Badlands? No official spawn list or coordinate set has been released as of the Badlands pre-launch (October 2026). Any page claiming specific spawn locations is speculating.
